8 Years!?! Birthday Blowout and Looking Ahead…

Holy hell, APE MADE *officially* turns 8 today!

⚠️Warning: Long, reflective, semi-confessional post ahead…

🎉But business first: Celebrating with an unprecedented 40% OFF clothing + FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50.00. That’s 40% off all adult unisex, ladies cuts, kids and baby clothing (tees, sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, dresses, scarves, baseball tees, bibs, and onesies). https://www.etsy.com/shop/APEMADE (Active now through 5/5)

And for the confessional: My business anniversary is always meaningful and somewhat emotional for me. It’s my late grandfather’s birthday, the day I registered APE MADE with the state and made it official, in his honor a few months after he died in 2011. He urged me to start my own company years before and I laughed at him. I couldn’t see it. I didn’t believe in myself. The Great Recession also helped nudge me towards taking that plunge (nothing to lose!… thanks, economy). He and my grandma always supported my art making. That is rare and so appreciated, They saw it when I couldn’t.

I am so grateful for the last 8 years, and the support I’ve received from them and all of you – it has truly exceeded my wildest expectations.

I’ve debated how much to share here – I will be honest. Why the huge sale? I want to liquidate stock. While I will be keeping some of my most popular designs and products, I will no longer carry the huge selection I have maintained for so long. My shops will remain stocked and you will still be able to find me online, but I am not doing as many markets and pop-ups as I used to. Stay tuned for details on a big liquidation sale pop-up, coming soon.

I love my city, and I love my brand, but I am ready to mix it up. Making new things! New projects! For awhile now, I’ve been pivoting my energy into other arenas, getting back into art, public projects, and teaching (focusing less on t-shirts and markets). These all bring me a different kind of fulfillment. My business is evolving and I am asking myself the big picture questions about intent, impact, goals, and how to best steer my energy and effort.

I humbly THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It’s been a ride. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
